Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew is excited about the prospects of talents in Ghana following the impressive performance of new faces in the team during the Unity Cup tournament.
The four-nation competition, which was staged in London, England, saw Ghana coach Otto Addo hand debuts to players including Christopher Bonsu Baah and Caleb Yirenchi in place of several absentees.
Both stole the headlines, with calls intensifying for their inclusion in the next international assignment.
“The other players couldn’t make it but in Ghana we have a lot of talent, and the new players showed their quality in the two matches,” Jordan told Ghana FA media.
"There is always a need for us to try some new players. We trained only twice before the first game, but the boys looked ready, sharp and confident in the game against Trinidad and Tobago and that showed in our performance.
"Hopefully we have all the players back in the subsequent games so that we can fight for the points in the World Cup qualifiers.”
Ghana finished third in the Unity Cup after bouncing back from a 2-1 defeat to Nigeria to thrash Trinidad and Tobago 4-0.
The team will regroup in September for their World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali.
